Here's a 20 sec movie I made from the final version of the Optimist_VW.

http://www.itbyc.org/download/optimist.avi

Great job with the Optimist design by Antoine.
And I also have to say that the replay editor is fantastic!

Cheers,
Harald

PS! The boat who crossed the line first, got a pen for breaking rule 18.2(a) 10 cm before finishing :D.

A VW member ask me which software he must use for watching this video. It doesn't work with WMP or Divx player

I probably choosed a not very common codec (I'm not used to making AVI's). But most people are able to view it without problem. I've only heard about 1 guy with problems before this.

I'm watching the movie with WMP here at the office, and I don't think there is installed any special codecs here.

When I get home, I can save it with another codec. It would be good if someone told me which codec is the most common.

Cheers,
Harald

DivX works quite well for me. The problem is, that I can't edit it afterwards.

Original Boats

Post by Irish Temper »

I was wondering if Nadeo could make available the 3ds files of the boats included with the game - specifically the Offshore? :)

It would save some of us many hours of work if we could use the stock boats and modify them slightly. :)

Good call Temper! I'd like to see that also. I have some limited ability with 3d Max, but would like to start the requests off with a biggie for the modelling gurus: A Super Maxi model. Something like Maximus, Skandia, Alfa Romeo etc, etc... The 98 footers.

I would love the 6.5m mini- transats or any of the open 60,50 or 40 classes.

Class requests

Post by Skiffie »

I wonder if anyone has thought of approaching one design class associations or their builders for 3D models? Might save a hell of a lot of time, and you might be able to get some of the parameters "correct" rather than guessed.

Also, Virtual Spectator has a 3D model of the Volvo 70, could we see if this could be used?

I'm still learning skinning, so modelling can wait for a few months! But I have line drawings for 1970's era 18ft skiffs 8)

Is the optimist fun? In real life they are they most slow and boring boats ever- but good for young children.

Est-ce que l'Opyimist est amusant ? En réel ils sont lents et enuyants mais bon pour de jeunes enfants.

but in vsk - it's a real fun =) enjoy =))
Mais dans VSK4 c'est un vrai fun, ça me plait.

P.S. Would be remarkable to lead TR on optimists =))
Ca serait interessant de faire des courses d'équipes avec l'Optimiste.
