It creates a new boat which can be used in VSK5 in addition to the 4 built-in boats. People would have to download a zip file, containing the boat data, to be able to join races with that boat. Boat models for VSK5 will be available soon at all the major VSK community sites. For VSK4, it was released about 30 different models.

You create them, and "Voila" you have a new custom boat!
OK, I skipped the months of work that actually goes in to it!
If you are not actually creating new custom models, the Boat Importer is no use to you at all. They are used by the developers to import custom models in to the game. The developer then makes up an installer file for everyone else to download. None available for VSK5 as yet, but some are getting close.

As you say, I did write that, but some time ago now. I still think that Nadeo should have provided this up-front, but I think we are getting there now anyway (with a few notable exceptions!). This has been due in no small measure to Sunburn, Maitai, Planing, and others from the community.

Correct us if you wish.

A new model constructed using v2.1 of the boat importer will or will not be compatable with the unpatched version of AC32?

Considering that the Model does not use any of the new tags is it better to use v2 of the boat importer to ensure maximum compatability?

Download the 2.1 zip file, unzip then follow the instructions in the "Word" doc.
This doc outlines the required files to create a new model.

Hi all,
maybe someone inactive has the opportunity to share a knowledge with me....

I am trying to find a boat design and import cycle to VSK5 with freeware / open source software.

The only problem seems to be that the Boatimporter needs an 'original' 3ds file. I tried the 3ds import/export function i.e. of Blender and always get the error message :
MainSail tree not found in solid

Here a picture is shown, which indicates that the MainSail tree is renamed and should be present...

What exactly does the Boatimporter2.exe check if a 3DS file is being processed.

Maybe someone from inside the design / boatimporter programmer can give some advice.
