Yes, obviously, but doesn't that defeat the porpuse of international competition? Personaly I think all the different clubs divides the sailing comunity in the first place, so why not be consistant as far as club members being residents or citizens of the country they would like to represent? Makes...

rascal wrote:All this talk about different nationalities and different clubs brings up one question in my mind. Why aren't the clubs and members of the clubs consistant? For example: Why are there members of vsk-usa that are British?
Because these clubs are open to people of all nationalities.

1. America's cup is about money behind campaigns rather than sailing skill (there are however several good British sailors in the AC. Also who gives one about keel boat sailing, it's for softies  Dinghy sailing is where the real talent shines. 2. Fair enough, with help from the French, and a w...

You're correct in this respect. Even if there was no contact, and you had to bear away to avoid him then he should still take a two-turns penalty. Not usre about 360s, generally it is a 720 for any infringement (except for touching a mark which is a 360) unless your local SI's specify otherwise 9kee...

Another abuse of the pen cancel function shown by STEACH in a Melges race this afternoon. He was the host, we were sailing overlapped on port tack (me to windward) he then threw a tack onto starboard, immediately seeing this I slammed my tiller over and managed to just about stay clear. he quite cor...

"Others have posted negative things about the host in question since back in his "Rascal" days" What's in a name? Same guy. "the onus is on us in terms of what kind of behavior we find acceptable." Exactly, but I doubt you can excuse the racism, threats and general har...

Note: you only have to begin keeping clear of a leeward boat who tacks next to you when she reaches her close-hauled course: "After a boat passes head to wind, she shall keep clear of other boats until she is on a close-hauled course." Also: "When a boat acquires right of way, she sha...
